Apple has made it official by sending invites to media for an event to be held in September, that it will be releasing a new iPhone in the market. The leaks, market analysis and experts say that the new iPhone will be called iPhone 9. With that being said, there is still hope that along with iPhone 9, an iPhone Xs or an iPhone X Plus may be released. But uncertainty still prevails, since we’ve been hearing about iPhone 9 since 2017, but nothing has happened till now.
It is expected to be priced between $1,000 to EUR 1,000 (varying in different countries). But, it will not be priced more than the previous iPhone X.
What’s new in iPhone 9?
Well nothing has been made idiocies about the device as of yet. But of course, a new device is always launched keeping in mind the competition prevailing in the market. So, these are a few features expected. These feature are based on Leaks, expectations and assumptions. I repeat – Nothing is Official as of now.
Bigger Battery
Yes, it’s true. For years and years of cribbing and waiting now the iPhone users can finally get a bigger battery (up to 4,000mAh). There’s a lot of hope that Apple might upgrade its batteries with the new iPhones it’s releasing. This comes out of two factors :
- Apple has been greatly criticized this year for its battery drain in older iPhone models. Not just that, again for the heating problem in MacBook, it was thrashed by media.
- Apple is losing grip in the market because it is not giving the iOS users the reason to upgrade to a new iPhone. A face unlock and infinity display were not much of a great deal. But, with a bigger battery, possibly all the iOS users will feel the urge to upgrade to the new iPhone.
Dark Mode
If you are tech junkie, you must’ve heard of it already. Well, this feature is in a lot of hype and is pretty trending in the tech world. I even think that if Apple hadn’t initially planned about introducing it in the new iPhone, they now must be thinking to add it after the amazing hype and positive response for it.
For those of you who don’t know, Dark Mode is a feature expected to be launched in iOS 12 that’ll turn your iPhone’s screen black with creamy white out soft colours. It’ll increase premium feel if the iPhone and also relax the eyes of users who have a habit of using their phone for long hours and at night majorly.
Camera Improvements
This is something obvious. Never before has it happened that a new iPhone has been launched without camera Improvements. So of course there will be further Improvements like – Advanced sensors, improved autofocus, improved stability etc..
Another thing to expect is an improvement in the slow motion videography. With the super slow motion launched by Samsung, will Apple launch something better than that or will it simply stick to Samsung’s set standards of 960fps.
3D Touch
3D touch was introduced by Apple in it’s iPhone 7 series. And 3D touch has seen a positive response in the market. So there’s a little possibility that Apple may be planning on vesting on it. We can expect a faster and more sensitive 3D touch, but that should not be irritating either. There’s a fine line between being irritable and being efficient. Apple needs to stay on that fine line, or else it’ll fetch itself a lot of criticism.
On-Screen Fingerprint Scanner
Oppo or Vivo (I’m not sure which one) has already launched a device with an on-screen fingerprint scanner. But till now, we have not seen that feature on a Premium device in the market. So, iPhone 9 can possibly become the first ever premium device with this feature. And, it may compensate for the greatly missed Home Button.
What body/design changes will iPhone 9 have?
A more sleek or body, a finer display size and possibly a smaller notch. We cannot expect Apple to bring that up-down sliding camera as in Oppo Find X. But still, a further smaller notch is possible.
Some experts say that Apple may also bring back the Silver Aluminium Strip which we can see in models such as iPhone 4, 5 and SE. Well, these 3 were also one of the most successful iPhones. If you ask me, I would want that to be true! But its difficult to imagine an infinity display along with that design.
Other than that, there’s not much that Apple can do in the designs. Apple has already tried the single lens round camera, vertical dual lens camera and horizontal dual lens camera. But Apple has never experimented a Round dual lens camera (like that in moto devices) on an iPhone ever before. Well, I think it’ll never even try that either.
